UK Spouse Visa Extension- English Requirements?

Hello,

I am BC and my wife has a spouse visa which will run out soon.

I was surprised to see that she has to prove her English proficiency again (even though we have been living together in the UK for more than 2 years).

When she first applied for the spouse visa, she took and passed the IELTS Life Skills (A1 Speaking and Listening). She passed it end of 2016 and joined me in 2017.

We still have the certificate. Can we re-use it for the visa extension?

No you cannot use an A1 certificate.

FLR(M) extension requires a minimum of A2. You could do B1 then provided nothing changes, she can use it again for ILR.

The A2 requirement for extensions has been in place for a couple of years now, not a recent change.
