Family Visa (2 or 5 years?)

Post by raha333 » Sun Sep 15, 2019 1:31 am

Hi, I have a question about the family visit visa (Non Immigration). I couldn't find the answer of my question and had to make this topic to ask, hopefully will get the proper answer...

I want to fill the visa form for my mum to come to the UK to visit me. She has visited me twice. First time she got a 6 months visa in 2010. The second time was in 2015 (she applied for for a 2 years visa which was successful). Now after 2 years of expiration of her last visa I want to apply for 5 years visa but I'm not sure whether or not she eligible. The visa fee is high and I can't risk it.

To be honest I would prefer to get a 5 years visa for her to be free from the paperwork for the next 5 years instead of applying separate applications which are exhausting and expensive.

Hence I would be grateful if you advise me on this issue, As the UK government and policies are changing, I'm confused to make the right decision. 5 years or another 2 years visa. which one I chance?

Thanks in advance

I think 5 years because she seems to have healthy immigration history with strong social ties with home country.

How many times did she use her 2 years visa? I’d say if more than once AND no change in her circumstances that could indicate less ties with her country, then yes, try going for 5. Worst case you’ll get 2

she came 2 or 3 times during the validity of her 2 year visa.
