Ancestry visa-How to apply for spouse

Post by traceaton » Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:32 pm

I have a valid UK Ancestry visa which I have had for three of the five years. I have been working and fulfilling all visa conditions and am due to apply for ILR in Jan 2021.

I have recently married my childhood sweetheart back in Jamaica and want to apply for her to come as my dependent spouse. I am unsure which visa to apply for and the guidance isn't very clear.

Can anyone help please?

The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

This is where the confusion arrives. As I only have a 5 yr visa and not yet ILR I do not believe I fit the criteria for :settled status".
When we apply and choose family member of a person in UK for other reasons, (as I do not qualify for settled category: the only options are for dependent children or dependent adult family members but not including spouse.
There is a link for spouse-If you are applying as a partner or spouse of a British citizen or a person settled in the UK, you must apply here.

but again, I am neither settled or a British citizen.

It's the first option after clicking apply online.
Join or accompany a family member, who either is already in or will be travelling to the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man (and you cannot apply on any other form)
Apply as the family member of someone who is part of one of the following categories:
work (non points-based)
armed forces
exempt from immigration control
study
settled in the UK
British citizen
has limited leave to enter or remain in the UK
other
And then The working in the UK option on the next page.

Thank you so much.
Hoping to apply without the additional expense of a lawyer.
