Wrong surname on naturalisation certificate

Post by redkite » Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:20 pm

I finally got good news on my application for naturalisation, after waiting more than 6 months. However, I've now realised that both in the letter from the Home Office and the details given to the council, my surname is not my current one but rather my maiden name.
I have no idea why they have made this mistake, but after waiting for so long for the decision I now don't know what to do. I have no identity documents with my maiden name as I changed it over 10 years ago.

Anyone had this happen to them ? Any advice on what is the least long-winded and stressful avenue to take to resolve this?

Many thanks

If its married name then marriage certificate is sufficient proof. But maybe for correction you might have to use the following form and procedure.
