SPOUSAL VISA - PREVIOUS DIVORCE DECREE

Post by Chislett » Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:18 am

Hi,

I was married in 1963 in Scotland & got divorced shortly after in the UK. I then remarried in South Africa & got dicroved again. My current wife and I (been married for over 30 years, have 2 kids together) are wanting to apply for a spousal visa for her. We understand it states I need to provide previous divorce documents. Could we just provide the divorce papers prior to my current wife (I wouldn't have been ablel to remarry if I wasn't divorced) or do I have to also provide my first divorce decree too?
I have lost that paperwork (divorced over 50 years ago) and do not know where I could retrieve them from should this be required.

You need the most recent original divorce decree.

Do you meet the financial requirements for a spouse visa?

Ok perfect - the most recent one would make valid sense.

We exceed the financial route via sale of our house (and have savings to add to it too).
So if we applied and only submitted my most recent divorce decree and my current marriage certificate along with kids birth certificates and so forth, technically there should be no room for error (granted we provide all the other necessary financial requirement docs, testimonials, proof or residence when we arrive).

Thank you so much in advance

Make sure you have all the documents to show source of funds in bank.

Unclear what you mean by the bolded bit above?? She must apply for a spouse visa in her home country if she is not in the UK on another visa other than a visitor visa.

Hi,

Sorry I should have stated - she is in SA applying. One of the requirements that we have seen online to provide is proof of accommdation when we arrive. (My daughters landlord has provided a letter to state we can reside in her house as she stays on her own in a 3 bedrrom house, along with her rental agreement and a utility bill.)

CR001 - I was crossing fingers you would respond. I actually got introduced to this board / forum through a colleague whom you have assisted and he highly recommends you.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

I hope this thread may help someone else too in advance.

Awww, thank you. Happy to help if needed.

You should include the council tax bill for the property as well.
