Financial query - UK Visa settlement

Post by Aaron1234 » Sun Sep 29, 2019 1:03 pm

Hi all,

I am in the process of gathering documents for my wife's visa application and just need a little clarification.

I am applying via Cat D cash savings, comprising of income from when I was working abroad (I have a couple of old tax return statements as a declaration of the source for this - £40k), work in the UK based on a freelance basis (I only started recently but paid tax on my earnings and will show a HMRC statement from HMRC as proof of the funds £15k), a 3k gift from mother (all with genuine statements and a letter from my mother) and savings from my wife (again with proof from here side as to the source 4K).

My question, therefore, is will this suffice as I read you cannot combine income from self employment, which is what I am currently, with savings? Am I right in thinking I am not combining my income as the income derived from self employment is my savings?

Thanks

Aaron

Cash savings cannot be combined with self-employment income, or with income from employment as a director or employee of a specified limited company in the UK only if you are earning lesser than required to cover the shortfall. However, if you and/or partner also have 6 months old cash saving of at least £62500 even gained through self employment then it should meet the requirement.
