The New Blue non-EU Electronic Passport would be gradually introduced from late 2019 and full production of Blue non-EU passports would be in place by early 2020.
As with most new passport designs, Blue passports will be phased in gradually.
If you renew your passport between late 2019 (OCT) and early 2020, you’ll be issued with either a Blue or a Burgundy British passport. You will not be able to choose whether you get a Burgundy or a Blue passport during this time.
All British passports issued from early 2020 will be Blue.
