Hi
Looking for list of documents for OCI application for new born, both parent are ILR holders.
The list on vfs site is confusing. So wanted to know the list from a parent who applied recently and got it.
Thanks.
The list is pretty clear. I've distilled it below:
From:
https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/OCI.html
1. Printed Application form: All applicants need to fill the online application form on the website
https://ociservices.gov.in - Make sure both you and your spouse sign this form.
2. Printed & signed copy of the declaration form (to be attached with each application)
https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/pdf/ ... taking.pdf
3. 2 photographs as per the photo specifications – please ensure the photo & signature specifications are strictly followed, application may not be accepted if the specifications are not met completely. Please visit the ‘photo specifications’ tab above for more details
4. Foreign Passport Copy (which should be valid for more than 6 months)
5. Both parent’s passport copy in case of a minor applicant. In case if the parents are holding Indian passport then photocopies of the Bio Page (photo page), last page with the address & UK visa page should also be provided.
6. Marriage certificate of parents
7. Original consent letter signed by both parent’s (confirming they would like for their child to have an OCI based on their Indian Origin or child’s Indian Origin, separate letter for each child), addressed to High Commission of India or its respective Consulates in Birmingham or Edinburgh, in case of minor children.
8. Address proof - issued by the UK government such as a driver's licence.
Notes:
1. Make sure you make the photos and have a digital copy ready before applying.
2. All photocopies need to be self-attested.
3. Applicants are required to submit the originals along with a set of photocopies of the originals, both sets of documents need to be submitted at the counter.
4. Signatures should be in the box provided. Children below 5 years of age should place the thumb impression (of left hand in case of girl and of right hand in case of boy) and children above 5 years of age should write their name or sign. Signature/thumb impression of the child applicant is also required on the declaration on Part B of the application form (2 page).
5. For your spouse's passport and visa copy, make sure she/he self-attest's them (ie not you). Other documents are acceptable to be attested by the parent making the submission.
6. In case of minor children, both the parents need to be signed in part ‘B’ or parent’s consent letter is mandatory (if divorced) or court order having custody of children. [Modify this letter:
https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/austral ... ildren.pdf to suit requirements]. Get it notarised if you can (optional) - will leave no doubt.
7. Bonus tip: If the birth certificate is issued in the UK, have it apostilled by the UK authorities. It give additional credence and apostilled docs are being asked for in other jurisdictions. Additionally, if your marriage certificate was issued in the UK, get that apostilled too. This will save you headaches down the line.
