hi all,
I have been an active beneficiary of the wealth of knowledge this forum imparts.
I looked around to see I could find a matching situation like mine, but I wasn't able to.
background:
I've been employed in the UK on a Tier 2 General Visa since Jan 2015. I've worked with the same employer since then and I've now decided to switch jobs. the new company is happy to sponsor my visa, and expects to join them soon. I have a 1 month notice period at my existing company.
Situation and my understanding:
I am eligible to apply for an ILR in Dec this year. I understand the process to obtain a new BRP should take about 4-6 weeks. the new employer has confirmed they will go for an expedited service. Once I have the BRP I will then serve the 1 month notice period and then join the new company. so effectively end of Dec.
Questions:
1) Is the below timeline appropriate:
-> New company obtains CoS for me - applied on 7th Oct - will obtain it in 1 week by 14th Oct.
-> New company files for a Tier 2 General visa on 14th Oct and BRP is obtained by end of Nov (4-6 weeks)
-> I resign and serve my notice period (Dec)
-> I join new company first half of Jan
-> I raise ILR request immediately with the new company in Jan
2) Do you suggest the above route , or suggest completing my ILR with existing company and then moving? Are there any dangers of jeopardising my ILR due to this move?
3) what should i be mindful of in this whole process? any tips, lessons, pitfalls?
I am happy to provide more details.
