Spouse Visa Bank statements

Post by phillipians » Wed Oct 09, 2019 6:23 am

Hi all

I am currently living In California, soon my wife will be applying for a spouse visa.

One option we could take is by presenting the 62,500 savings.

Ive read in some places that printed online statements with a certain level of detail are fine, but in other places ive read otherwise.

Id rather be safe than sorry, but my the account my savings is in is a Barclays account.

How can I get the correct statements without returning to the UK? Will perhaps a barclays branch in the US suffice? or perhaps the online statements will just be ok?

Many thanks, Joseph

You can either print them and go to your local branch and get them stamped. Or, you can ask either your local branch or the UK branch to send you original statements. I don't think the UK branch would have any issue sending you the statements aboard. They may charge a nominal fees but they usually do it.

For cash savings, part of the requirements is that it must not have gone below 62,500 in the 6 months before the application and you should be able to state the source, hope this requirement is met?

Bank will never send any statement/correspondence to any address other than they have in their system.

Yes but you can add multiple addresses.

I was abroad for a year and my bank added my foreign address as correspondence and also as a billing address. So when I used to shop online and request delivery to my temporary foreign address, my order wasn't declined. My temporary address was in the shipping and the billing fields. I used to receive paper statement abroad.

But they need to know about it.

Otherwise, if you have a mail redirection in place, that can work too. But it's better to give your actual address to the bank so they add it to their systems.

A lot of banks doesn't allow that but usually EU area is covered. Redirection which is expensive for overseas address might be a solution.
