Hi everyone!
My boyfriend, a German citizen, and I, a Canadian citizen, met while at university in Canada and have been dating for approximately two years. After his student visa ran out (it was valid for a year as he was doing a year-long masters program), he returned to Germany and I visited him for three months. I had to return to Canada as my temporary visa could not be extended and he applied for a work/study visa through a student-oriented travel organization (similar to SWAP in Canada) and got a one year visa and so he returned to Canada on this visa in February. His visa is due to end at the end of this coming January (2009) and we want to find a way to ensure that he can stay in Canada until the end of this coming summer (2009), so basically another six months after the end of his visa, as now I am a master's student and have to be in Canada for the year to finish the program. We were wondering if you guys could help us out as we want to find out...
1. If we can extend this type of visa - even if it came from a travel organization rather than directly through the government - and how to do so.
2. If it is not possible to extend the visa for six months, is it possible for him to return to Germany and then re-enter Canada as a 6 month visitor? How do you ensure that he will get the full six months?
3. Is it possible to apply for another visa that we just haven't heard about to extend his stay?
Thank you so much for your help, because it can be pretty crazy getting straight answers on these type of things!
