Student fees

Post by Sonicblu77 » Thu Oct 24, 2019 3:50 pm

I am a mother to a British child, I was granted a Leave to remain and applied for university. I live in Scotland and classed as a home student as I’ve lived here for over 10 years I’ve applied for SAAS and was told I could not apply for a bursary yet I’ve lived here for 18 years. My visa is a leave to remain and says no recourse to public funds. Does anyone know how I can get funding for my course in Scotland?

You can read this:

https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information-- ... layer-6199

The part in pink is specific for Scotland.

This document gives a list of "public funds":

this is from the SAAS website:

"If you are not a UK or other EU national, you must also have ‘settled status’ in the UK (as set out in the Immigration Act 1971) on the relevant date."

As I understand, settled status in your case would mean holding ILR.

Exactly, you don't have ILR = Indefinite Leave to Remain, yet.
