BRP validity

Post by DrMak » Tue Oct 29, 2019 5:06 pm

Hi All,

I need clarification on the validity of the BRP, given the below scenario:

CoS issue date : 25th October 2019
Joining Date (as per CoS) : 15th November 2019
Expected visa issuance : 25th December 2019
Intended Travel to UK : 5th January 2020

My question is, if I get my BRP on 15th January 2020, what will be its start and end dates, given the CoS is for two years? I am concerned that the BRP expiry could be two years from the Joining Date in the CoS, due to which I will lose two months.

Additionally, how can I change the Joining Date in the CoS, if it would actually matter?

Thanks in advance.

Why are you waiting so long to apply when your start date is almost 2 weeks away??

Date of approval and visa will be the date of decision and the end date will be in line with the CoS duration. Your BRP will likely have the same visa start date as your 30 day visa vignette.

Joining date needs to be changed by your sponsor in the SMS system. There are restrictions of 28 days I think that it can be delayed by.

Thanks for your reply.

I cannot start immediately since I am outside the UK and will have to get hold of the required documents first, before I can apply for the visa, which will take an additional 3-4 weeks.

So will that mean the end date of the BRP would be two years from my joining date i.e. 15th November 2021? This way I will only be able to work for 22 months instead of 24 months.

Given the below rule, I understand I can still start by 15th January 2020 but my Joining Date cannot be extended beyond 13th December 2019 (after the maximum 28-day extension)?

"Your Tier 2 (General) application must be made no more than 3 months after the CoS is issued, and you will start work no more than 3 months after your visa application is made"
