Tier 2 General Outside UK for more then 6 Months

Hi,

Just wanted to ask you question.

My company is asking me to move outside UK for more then 6 months, I know a rule for Tier 2 General employees if they stay more than 6 months will effect their ILR. But recently i heard the news around that this rule has been removed??

Could anyone confirm please??

What is your SOC??

It has only been removed for very specific jobs.

So a non shortage or PhD job.

Page 62 and 63, point 263, explains who the exemption applies to, i.e PhD level SOCs.

263. There are two exemptions where absences are not considered as part of the maximum
180 days: where you have been absent from the United Kingdom assisting with a
national or international humanitarian or environmental crisis, or where you are working
in a PhD level occupation and you have been absent from the UK because you are
undertaking overseas research.
