Hi guys,
Is it required to have a valid passport when applying for citizenship? My backpack along with my passport got stolen a week ago and I am in the middle of finishing my online application so I have not paid the fees yet. I have applied for a new passport but I was advised that it would take 8 to 10 weeks for it to be ready for collection. :(
No you don't but you need to submit evidence of residence for any periods you do not have a passport.
Thanks for the quick reply!:)

Evidence of residence like bank statements, bills?

Also, thankfully I had only one trip outside of UK using that passport (I only had it for a year before it got stolen) and I still have the boarding passes from that trip. Should I upload it along with other documents?
No, those won't be accepted. You need payslips/P60s/letter from employer and council tax or any official letters such as HMRC or DWP for example.

If you have a copy of the whole passport, that would be useful otherwise boarding pass should sufficient to prove limited absence.

Please guide me at;

Today is the 6 month completed on my citizenship application. I checked with a home office a month ago and they answered to take more than 6 months.

The case is;
At the time of application May 2019, I wrote my profession as a "self-employed" and submitted a tax summary. In that tax summary, the tax was due which I paid in full following month. I start a job in Sept 2019 and now I am working as an employee but also registered as a self-employed person.

My question is;

1:- I can still access sopra stiera account. Shall I submit a fresh tax statement in which due tax is £0 along with my recent salary slips?
2:- During this tax period 2018/19 I worked as an employee for 6 months. I have P60 from that company also. Shall I submit that P60 also?

3:- Will these new document submissions help my caseworker to make a decision fast?

Thanks for reading my post...

Hi please was wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me.
Online application 14/09/19
Biometrics 20/09/19
I chose a council close to my work place for my ceremony because I work in a different city.
I sent couple of emails to different HO enquiry email add including FMT and got response from the other email add excluding FMT that from their record that application is not up to 6 months and would not be attended to.
I got another email from FMT on the 12/11/19 that I will be contacted by post within 21 working days.
Please anybody in the same boat who could throw more light.
Thanks
This usually means it's good news! Hope you get the brown envelope soon.
Thanks,hopefully fingers crossed
Brown envelop finally showed up at my door today, goodluck to those still waiting on Mr brown envelope.

I am also in the same boat, I think all those who got their refugee status through courts their applications are scrutinised more and took more time to be decided. I may be wrong as some simple application have taken ages. But generally refugees got refugee status through court their application took longer to decide. Anyone else who is in the same boat can share their views too.

Applied on the 16/04/2019 few times asked for an update in which I got a standard response. last month I got this reply :Our preparatory enquiries on this application are currently ongoing. This means that the application cannot yet be allocated. Hopefully it will not take too much longer before the application to considered. You do not need to contact us as once the application is decided, you will be contacted by a caseworker. a few days ago I asked for a follow-up but didn't get any reply.
below emails I sent a follow-up request

Hey peeps just now I received the approval letter for myself too. It took 8 months and a week for it to come through but finally a happy immigrant ending. Wish luck to all of you. Hang in there tight. I always thought I will get refused for some odd reason but I didn’t. You won’t be either. I had applied in March under refugee ILR

Hi,

Been searching through but can't see any relevant info. I've just filled out AN Naturalisation online form, and used two referees, neither meet the first referees requirements? One is a Software Developer, the other a Support Worker. Has anyone been in this situation before?

On a side note, I feel like I read while filling out the online application that it said both needed to be UK citizens and no mention of the certain job requirements that I saw after I finished application, paid, and downloaded referee forms. As you guys probably know, apparently the first does not need to be UK citizen and there are certain job requirements. I also thought I read through guidance notes and none of the above was mentioned. I now see the reference to the above on the paper downloadable form but was directed away from that, to fill out online form. I would of thought guidance notes, and online form would be all that is expected for me to read.

Anyhow, anyone got through OK with similar situation? will they ask me for another referee? Can I change at this stage? Have I made my application invalid? Will I have to pay again?

I'm booked in to do UKVCAS in 5 days and have not uploaded my referee forms yet?

Hi, please disregard this post as one of my referees is a director of a VAT company, so I think I will be fine.

Referees

Post by Jamesdk32 » Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:00 am

Hi I have some questions please
1 What would happen if the referees don't meet the criteria? Will I be asked for another ones or will the application be refused?
2 when can I ask for an update on the progress?
3 do I get an email once the decision is made or is it a letter only?
4 how long would I be able to use my travel document for traveling once I receive the approval letter?
5 do I need to notify them if I started a new job?
6 do all refugees who got there status through courts take longer to get a decision?
Thank you

1. Likely asked for another, which will cause a delay. I suggest you get referees that meet the criteria.

2. You don't get any type of update unless 6 months has passed.

3. Letter, 2nd class post, brown AT envelope.

4. You are only British once you attend your ceremony. Until that point, you are simply an ILR holder.

5. No.

6. Even straightforward cases can take long, some members who have had clean immigration history have waited more than a year.
