Tier 2 (General) -> Tier 2 (General), dependents?

Hi,

I know this has been discussed on this board time and time again but after days of scouring I seem to be getting conflicted information on how to handle my dependents whilst I change employers on a Tier 2 General visa.

I have accepted a new job with a new employer who will be sponsoring my Tier 2 General visa. My question and source of confusion is what I will need to do with my dependents? Will I need to apply for new visas for them? And pay the IHS fees?

Some of my research says yes, some days no, and the data in some cases is stagnant (4+ years old). Just looking for a fresh answer on the above.

I see, thank you. Looks like my dependents don’t need to reapply like I do—in fact, what I’ve gleaned from that information is that there is no action to take for their visas at all.

Correct yes. They simply apply for an extension shortly before their visas expire.

Plot twist: my employer dismissed me and is therefore no longer sponsoring me. I am awaiting the curtailment notice from the Home Office.

So, regarding my dependents question above, if I secure a new CoS before my curtailment period ends, does the same result apply as already discussed?

Curtailment letters take many weeks to get sent out.

Nothing changes in the advice already given about your dependents.

Seems to be the case according to some of the posts here. However, there have been a few that I've seen that are received in as little as 3 weeks. As my new role has not yet passed RLMT yet, nothing is certain.

Hypothetically, if there was an official decision by the HO to curtail my dependents before I secure a new sponsor, once I get my CoS, does their curtailment get "cancelled" somehow? If it makes any difference, when I came to the UK, my employer at the time sponsored all of us and we all applied for our visas on the same "ticket", so to speak.

Not sure where you saw 3 weeks but that is rare and usually when a migrant has left the UK for whatever reason thinking they can return.

Dependent visa are rarely curtailed. Yours will be curtailed first.
