Unmarried Partner Visa--- Evidence and Finance

Post by joeysun » Sat Nov 23, 2019 6:09 pm

Hi people,

Originally I planned to apply my unmarried partner visa in my home country, however, my partner's family think it is better for me to do it in the UK. I have around 80 days till my current visa expire and I am really confused about applying within UK. We being together for 4 years and have lived together for about 3 years.

My questions are:
1) My deposit £62,500 is stored in a bank in my home country. Is it risky to use their bank statement as evidence, or the money must be in a UK bank if you are applying within UK.
2) I need to declare the source of my saving, which is from my parents. How do I do so? I am planning to write a letter to tell HO about the transactions and dates with the bank hopefully stamp on the A4 paper...Is this acceptable? Or is there a better way?

3) My biggest headache is the evidences, I have the following combined evidence prepared:
- 2 council tax bills:
one is from 09/2018 - 01/2019 and the other is from 04/2019 - 01/2020.

- 2 tenancy agreements with current landlord:
one is from 09/2018 - 09/ 2019 and the other is from 09/2019 - 06/2020

- 2 tenancy agreements with a student accommodation (we shared a room):
one is from 09/2016 - 07/2017 and the other is from 09/2017 - 09/2018

So are these enough as 6 evidence? In the student accommodation, we did not have tax or utility bills....

4) People told me I need to include photos with my partner, but the application does not say. So do I need it?

Sorry for the long post and Thanks for all your help! :D

Hi there, I got some further problems now...

1) The bank only issued me a certificate of deposit and they say they cannot do a 6 month bank statement since my money is fixed deposit. So can I just use that as evidence?

2) I put the sum in 2 different account in the same bank. The certificate of deposit I received have both account and their amounts on. They are from same source. The application ask me to provide statements for both accounts and declaration, but can I just submit one certificate of deposit and one declaration for both accounts with me and my parents' sign?

Thanks for your help!

These savings must immediately be withdrawal. Also Without providing bank statements the requirement wont be met:
7.5. Cash savings – specified evidence
7.5.1. The evidence required for cash savings is specified in Appendix FM-SE:
11. In respect of cash savings the following must be provided:
(a) Personal bank statements showing that at least the level of cash savings relied upon
in the application has been held in an account(s) in the names of the person and
their partner jointly throughout the period of 6 months prior to the date of application.
(b) A declaration by the account holder(s) of the source(s) of the cash savings.

The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hi segul,

Thanks for the answer! I have checked the guide above. Turns out that my cash saving is in the form of deposit slips. When they put the money in the account, I am not physically in my home country, so I cannot apply for a saving account. So it is a Time deposit account and they cannot give me a 6 mo bank statement. I can get the money out anytime with a valid ID before maturity date, but then the interest rate will then be lowered.

-So:
1) Is this still acceptable?
2) Under this circumstance, would a certificate of deposit and copies of the deposit check be acceptable evidence? Anything else I will need?

Many thanks!
