ILR English - US degree non US citizen, unclear options in online form

Post by dmaxno » Sat Dec 07, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi,
I am preparing my ILR application, for which I took the approved English exam. When filling the application I am asked if I have a degree, which I do, I have a deree from the USA. After I enter that info, I am not given an option to provide additional information in this section. It seems the form assumes that if I have a US degree I am a US citizen, but that is not the case as I was born in a non-exempt country.
I didn't get the US degree validated, beause it was going to be more expensive (the format suggeted includes statements on my attendance or degree conferral, which are not free as this requires going through the registrar's offfice. That made the exam a cheaper, easier option). I expected I can submit the exam as evidence of English even if I have a US degree, but I am not seeing any place in the form so far.
At this point I am going to go ahead with the applciation, indicateing I have a US degree (whih is true) and will just include my certified exam results with the general documents. However, I am a little nervous and would appreciate other opinions in this case.

What exams?
Answer that question ONLY if ur intending to use it towards fulfilling the English language evidence requirement. Although ur “truth” is appreciated but for this question it’s irrelevant.

I will get naric letter or do the B1 tests. HO could assume that the course was thought in another language than English. I stand corrected.

I found my answer by moving forward on the application. The documents section later requested the degree-specific documents with UK certification (UK NARIC, I think it is). Since the questions were specific to the English langauge section, I went ahead and changed it to say I don;t have a degree, so now it is requesting for my test certificate. I think this is probably right.
Thanks.

I did take the B1 tests, which I am now including. As someone pointed out, teh section is specific to the English language requirement, so I changed my answer to note I have the proper English certificate. The list of documetns requested later int he application seems to confirm this is the correct approach in this case.
Thanks.
