Category B Spousal Visa UK

Hi,

I am in salaried employment and have been since May 2019, earning 14.5k GBP per year. I am planning on using Category B and provide 12 months of wage slips to show I've earned over 18.6k in the last 12 months.

1. If I submit 12 pay slips, how do they calculate it? Is it just adding them all up?

2. If I apply in, let's say, May 2020 or June 2020, and I am still with my current employer earning 14.5k a year, will that affect me - even if I've earned 18.6k over the last 12 months? Or do I need to still be in a new job that has a salary of 18.6k of more? Or can I just apply while still in my current job of 14.5k a year?

1. For total income in 12 months prior to applying, yes.

2. "Under Category B, the assessment of the financial requirement is based on both:
(1) The gross annual salary or income from salaried or non-salaried employment at the date of application; and
(2) The actual amount of gross income received from any salaried or non-salaried employment in the 12 months prior to the application."
You must meet both of the criteria.

If you are earning a fixed wages (salaried) of £14500 then your application will always be failed under category B because you couldn't be able to meet its part 1 where your salaried wages must be at least £18600 at the time of application. However, if you have 6 months older savings in excess of £16000 or have started doing the sufficient overtime then may even meet the requirement under category A.
