Spouse Visa Questions

Post by Simon-Nanda » Thu Dec 26, 2019 11:45 am

Hi, I just have a few questions regarding my partner’s spouse visa.

First, his passport is valid until June 2021. Should he get a new passport before he gets the 2.5 yr spouse visa? Is it okay to get a new passport during those 2.5 yrs? Or does the biometric id override the original passport visa?

I meet the £18600 requirements. I was going to submit 6 months of payslips together with a letter from my employer, do I need to submit bank statements as well?

As I meet the financial requirements on my own, do I need to submit my partner’s finances as well? He has Indonesian bank documents. They have bank books rather than statements, so he would need an accompanying letter from the bank. Would he need to provide 6 months of finances?

He already has his IELTS life skills; we’ve both been married since 2017; otherwise he needs a tuberculosis vaccine and certificate.

He simply needs a valid passport. Visas are not stamped in the passport when applying for an extension. He can renew his passport at any point when he chooses.

Yes, bank statements for six months corresponding to your salary credit is mandatory.

If you meet the requirements on your own, then only yours is required.

What level of IELTS does he have?? Is it A1? For an extension he needs A2 but can also do B1 which can be used for ilr later on. He does not need tb test cert.
Char (CR001 not Casa)

Thanks for the answers. He’ll be applying for his first spousal visa not an extension. We were married in the UK in 2017 on a marriage visit visa, but I was then working abroad. I returned to the UK May (I’m a UK national) this year and he’s now on his second 6 month visit visa so looking to move to the spouse visa now I’ve been in the UK for 6 months. So do all those answers apply for the initial spouse visa?

Overseas income of applicant applying from outside the UK is not considered.
