Transfer of ILR vignette stamp to BRP

Hi all,

I am helping a family member transfer their ILR vignette to a new BRP because their old passport has expired. The form is online and has some confusing parts to it and was wondering for some help.

I am at the question that asks for previous BRPs, but of course, my family member never had a BRP, therefore I put "don't have a BRP for my current [or previous] stay".

I am then asked "Why have you never had a BRP for your most recent leave?", to which I answer "I have a different document showing my right to stay in the UK".

The next section is where I get confused, as I'm then asked "What document do you hold that shows your right to stay in the UK?" with the options

• Immigration Status Document (ISD)

• A passport which shows you are allowed to stay in the UK

• Other

• I have never had one

I chose "A passport which shows you are allowed to stay in the UK", and I'm then asked, "What is the document number?". Is this the document number of the passport itself, or the document number of the ILR stamp in the passport?

I am applying for a transfer of visa from one passport to another for someone who already has Indefinite Leave To Remain. It's just that the vignette stamp is no longer offered in preference for BRPs.

I'm assuming NTL is another name for ILR?
