If they want to live in the U.K. they need British passports or Right of Abode stamps.

Has she had a British passport before?

Well, as JAJ said, they have two choices. They can either apply for British passports (which would seem to be the most sensible thing to do) or they can apply for a certificate of entitlement to the right of abode to be placed in their non-British (?Egyptian) passports. Both applications would be lodged with an issuing British overseas mission (e.g. The British Embassy in Cairo, which issues British passports and certificates of entitlement.

Either will let them enter and live in the UK free of any immigration control.

Unfortunately, they cannot have both a Certificate to the Right of Abode and a British passport concurrently. It's either one or the other.
