I applied on 21st May 2019 and still waiting...

I sent the first e-mail to the HO at the end of October 2019. HO replied standard eg: "Can not process in 6 months target time"
I sent the second e-mail on 29th December 2019 and HO replied the same as generic e-mail. HO reply is

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances, this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately, it appears your application will not be processed within the 6-month target.

We expect to make a decision on your application as soon as we can, I am sorry for the delay in dealing with your application and for the inconvenience, this is causing. Please be assured that we are doing all we can to make a decision on your case as quickly as possible.

What I noticed in this e-mail that a previous reply from HO contained a person's name at the end. This time there is no name but www.homeoffice.gov.uk. I assume HO office had lots of inquiries during this Christmas holiday and they sent a generic e-mail in a one-click job.

Is there any other method to know about my application status. It's been 7.5 months now.
I applied on 9th May and keep getting the same reply. I am almost giving up honestly

We can do nothing except keep waiting with great patience. If we don't experience patience and extreme psychological practices to keep our life calm and carry on then when will experience? I would say, this time is teaching me how to be patience and pay thanks in advance for the things done but not in our knowledge. Any day can be your day.

I did not visit back home from the last 10 years. During this time parents passed away, new people joined the family, new people born and grown, children become adults, adults got grey hair and I will be absolutely stranger among them. I keep no other option except patience. We did our best and now leave the rest. All be better for a better tomorrow. May you be blessed in this lean time.

Hi MoIQ

you just said it all, during the last few weeks i received several updates when contacting the Home Office , each of them is kind of a step behind. I also havn`t been home since 9 years, the British Passport will not change my daily life apart of enabling me to see my parents in one of the neighboring countries where my current travel document will not be so welcomed there . ( even with a British passport , home is impossible anyway )

I am only desperate because my dad has started having dementia symptoms ,and i am only dreaming of seeing him before he forgets my face and my daughter`s

i work for the NHS, third f my salary is tax and National Contribution, my daughter graduated scoring first at her class , even though many can have their application decided in few weeks rather than months and months. But as you said, what can i do ? i cant control it and it started affecting my well being and my focus on my work. So it is time to slow down my worries , and i hope and i think it should come one day

good luck all. be blessed

Hello Everyone
I need some advice. I applied for naturalization last year in March and my application was approved in November 2019. I was naturalized as a British Citizen in December 2019. However, upon return o my documents, my country of origin passport was not returned.I emailed nationality enquiries and my case worker informed that they cannot return my passport because the Home Office retained it when I seeked asylum. This is very odd because I was under the impression that once one is naturalized as a British Citizen all your documents have to be returned to you.

I want to apply for a British Passport and the passport office informed me that I need my country of origin passport and my naturalization certificate in order for my application to be processed. Has anyone been through this and how can I get my passport back from the Home Office?. Any advice and suggestions are welcome.

Thank You.

Do you have a travel document issued by the Home Office?
You can submit that to HMPO with an explanation.

Yes I have a Travel Document issued by the Home Office. It was returned to me after my naturalization application was successful. The Passport Office said I can make an application for a British Passport with a cover letter explaining the situation but they cannot guarantee that my application will be accepted without my country of origin passport. I think it is very odd that the Home Office refuse to give me back the passport since I am now a British Citizen. I do not know what to do anymore!!!!!!!!!

Best to make your application to HMPO with a cover letter explaining exactly the circumstances - attach any explanation the Home Office has given in writing.

Congrats! Huge relief for you. I applied around the same time as you 22/11/2019 and submitted my biometrics on 25/11 but have had no luck with getting any info on the current status of my application using the email addresses provided in this forum. Really hoping I get a good surprise before the end of the month by receiving an approval letter!

It means a caseworker is now working on your application. So depending on your personal circumstance, and how soon the caseworker is able to make a decision. The good news is your application has got the attention it needs.

Hi guys, l received the same message in November and today. l applied in May and this time there's a name and phone number. Will it be wise to call the number? Does that message mean the application has even allocated a case worker?

The great thing is you've got a decision, so not too long now. In my case, I've had no luck with emails to "NationalityFrontEndTechnicalSpecialists@homeoffice.gov.uk" and only get generic response from emails sent to "NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gov.uk". Did you have a similar experience before you got a proper response?

Please can you advise what you asked them when you sent your enquiry email?

Thanks
