28 days rule carrying over from current spouse visa EXPERIENCE

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has had experience from extending their spouse/partner visa, and having current leave carried over from the current visa to the extension? The gov website says up to 28 days is carried over from the current visa to the new visa, does anyone know if this the carried over from the biometrics date or the online application date. Would be great if someone who has experience of their leave being carried over due an early applied application could let me know, thanks

I had 28 days carried over from my previous visa when I switched visa types to a spouse visa. It's added to the length of time the new visa is valid for. As the new visa is valid from the date it is issued, it is likely that only any remaining previous leave beyond the issue date of the new visa is carried forward. To me it doesn't make sense or seem necessary to do it any other way. Any gaps between when the previous visa expires and when the new one is issued would be covered by Section 3C of the Immigration Act (1971).
