Extension application - Earnings proof

Post by priya_bhosale » Mon Aug 04, 2008 1:46 pm

Hello,

I am an extension applicant. Can anyone enlighten me on what I should be submitting as a proof of my earnings in the UK?

I know salary slips and bank statement would sufice. But I also wish to send an extra evidence from the tax authority. Now as the tax years ends in March, my p60 would be generated in march and I cant wait till march.

Is there any other document I can get from my UK tax office which will show my earnings between a specific period? Say for example between Jan 08 and Dec 08?

Please advise.

Thank you,
Priya

It is important to note the following regarding use of tax documents as evidence of previous earnings.
Tier 1 policy guidance ver 06/08 wrote:Please note that because tax documents are usually produced at the end of a fixed tax period they will not necessarily show the entire period for which the applicant is claiming previous earnings unless they are for the exact period claimed. An applicant should therefore be cautious about using these documents unless he/she is sure they show the exact amount of earnings for which he/she is claiming points.
1. Extra documentation will not lend any (extra) weight to your application.
2. AFAIK, HMRC / tax office will not issue you any letter or document to show your earnings (and tax) during a specific period.

Thank you once again sushdmehta. You seem to be the most helpful one!

Yes I understand what you are saying. But my concern is not to add extra weight to my application but to keep an extra evidence just in case there is a problem (chances of which are very remote) with one of my primary evidences; i.e. bank statement and wage slips. It was meant to be a contingency evidence more than anything else.

But as you rightly say that the tax office wont issue any such document, then that should be the end of the matter then.

So my wage slips for the 12 month period and my bank statement covering the 12 month period would be sufficient then?

Yes, provided they confirm to the conditions prescribed in the Tier 1 policy guidance.
