Can ILR person stay outside UK?

Hi, I hope you all are well.

I hold ILR, my children holds British passports and My Mrs going to apply for ILR this month. For Family reason my Mrs and kids needs to go to India for good to stay with their grand parents and study there.

My Question is How long my Mrs can stay in India ? I have checked website it stays you cannot stay 2 or more years outside UK and its confusing for me.

Can you suggest what would be the best way?

Hello

The rule of thumb is 2 years. If you stay more than 2 years out of the UK, you lose your ILR.

Now, if you come every 2 years to reset the counter, it may work once or twice, but eventually they will take away the permanent residence.
