Hi.
My ILR is in my expired passport so i now want to apply for the BRP.
1. Apologies in advance for the stupid question.Do they keep the passport when you go for the fingerprints etc? I understand the decision time is 6 months ( non-urgent one) and i have to travel internationally almost every month for work. They can't possibly keep the passport for this long, right? It isn't mentioned explicitly anywhere but better be safe than sorry.
2. I'm self-employed, live with relatives (so no council tax letter, utility bills etc) and haven't visited the GP in at least 4 years! I pay my taxes and have the invoices that i send to my clients. Would this be sufficient evidence to demonstrate that i live here? I can't think of anything else! My bank st, tax records and invoices...that's really it! If it's a clear no then i'd rather not waste my money.

No, they do not keep your passport.

Are you able to provide a biometric residence permit (BRP) card with this application? No, I do not have a BRP for my most recent leave
Do you have a BRP from a previous stay in the UK?No
Why have you never had a BRP for your most recent leave?I have a different document showing my right to stay in the UK
What document do you hold that shows your right to stay in the UK?A passport which shows you are allowed to stay in the UK
Apologies for asking here...in the same situation ( ILR in expired passport). Have filled out the form above. does this seem right?
Also, was everyone asked for this? "The document(s) you provide must cover every year since you became a permanent resident. Example documents include: council tax letters; letter(s) from a GP confirming dates of attendance; letter(s) from a school or college confirming dates of attendance; electricity, gas or water bills; or letter(s) from employer(s) confirming employment"

Yes. You must show you were not absent from the UK and ILR status was preserved
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice

Hi! Did you apply for renewal of your BRP? How did it go? What documents did you provide?
I’m currently in the same situation as you. I can only provide documents they require for the last 3 years but not for the first 7 years of my stay.
