Registering on foreign birth register - adoption

Post by Lmirish78 » Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:35 pm

Hi . I am not sure if anyone can help .
My birth grandparents were both Irish citizens ( born in Ireland but living in the UK) when they gave birth to my mum in England . My mum is named on the certificate etc . However my mum was adopted to parents from England. My understanding is that as I have grandparents from Ireland and i can apply to be put on the foreign birth register and follleing that can apply for an Irish passport . However in everything I read regarding documents etc I can not find this scenario . I have my mums original birth certificate and assume I can get her revisduef one however i am not sure whether this is enough to make the link in a formal application .
Has anybody else had this experience? TIA

A few similar posts I think in the FBR thread here - ireland/foreign-birth-registration-t277641-1980.html
Read the last few pages of the thread and there have been several adoption situations.
