Citizenship through great grandparent - Residency Conditons/Waiving

Hi everyone! Has anyone had great grandparents who were born in Ireland, and your parents/grandparents were Irish citizens, but your parents did not register themselves to the foreign birth register before you were born, therefore you, as a great grandchild were not eligible? My question here is: Did anyone apply for citizenship through naturalization/living in Ireland and receive the citizenship quicker than five years by having that Irish association? The section also discusses a part of you doing good deeds for Ireland. I was one of the US student Ambassadors for Education in Ireland a few years ago and now serve with the youth council on the US Department of State (I’m wondering if that may help my case even further) Does anyone have any similar stories?


Would love to know if anyone is in a similar boat or has received it quicker than five years.

I am aware that I am not eligible through the great grandparent as of now and the chain was broken after my own parent. I am wondering if I would have my residency conditions waived in the circumstances that I am in currently.

Having Irish associations will allow the minister to waive some of your residency requirement. The constitution gives the minister the absolute power to determine what he wants to waive, but normally this applies to people who have lived here for some time and want to continue living here.

Legally yes it is possible. However, without an intention to live here on a permanent basis, it is difficult to be approved.
