Tier 2 General to Tier 2 General Dependent

Hi Team,

I am in a critical situation at the moment. I am in UK for last 4 years in Tier-2 General visa. For some reason I have lost my job. The problem is now either I have to get a job with in 2 months or have to leave the country.
I have other option as well, my wife is in Tier-2 General visa. So my ask is:

- If I don't get sponsorship job in 2 months can I apply for Tier-2 General Dependent Visa? My wife is in Tier-2 General for last 1.6 years.

- To apply for Tier-2 General Dependent Visa , do I have to go to India or I can apply from here?

Why would you have to leave or find a job within 2 months? Have you received a curtailment letter yet??

You can switch within the UK to dependent visa. Your ilr clock will reset to zero though.

Hi CR001,

I have not yet received my curtailment letter. I have not been through this phase before so bit confused.
But my ex-colleagues are saying the organization informs the home office if they terminate ones employment. Thanks a lot for the information that I can apply for dependent visa after being in Tier-2 Gen visa and that also being in UK.

Do you have any idea , how long it takes for the curtailment letter to come?

Your 60 days curtailment starts from when you receive the curtialment letter and NOT from when the employer informs ho. Curtailment letters can take a few months to get sent out. If you get one also depends on when your current visa expires, you have not stated what this date is.
