PBS Dependent Visa extension

Post by karvykun » Mon Mar 09, 2020 9:00 pm

Hi guys.

Hoping for someone to help me with something. I have tried to look at the FAQs but was unable to get an answer (or maybe I haven't been looking hard enough) but i just have a simple question.

I am applying for my ILR this month. my wife's (PBS dependent) visa is although expiring at the same time as mine but she does not qualify for ILR as she is lacking 2 more years.

I was wondering, if my ILR visa is approved, what extension can my wife apply for? can she extend her Tier2 Dependent visa? but would that be valid because since my old tier 2 work visa will be expiring soon, wouldn't she need to be a dependent of a Tier2 visa that is still valid?

i looked at the FAQs and an FLR-M is not a good idea because it will reset her ILR clock. This is something i never knew, so now i am at a loss as to what to apply for my wife.

thank you for taking the time to read my post. and apologies if this is redundant i was really trying to look for an answer instead of having to post a topic.

any help would be appreciated. thank you all.

She can extend her same visa (Tier2 Dependent visa) until qualifies for ILR if you will obtain your ILR on tier 2 route/PBS visa.

Amazing! Thank you for the swift response!

Does that mean that i should apply for my ILR first, then apply for her extension once my ILR is granted?

If her visa is expiring before your ILR approves then definitely apply her extension in timely.

Main Applicant ILR + Dependent PBS Extension

Hi Guys!

First off, I want to give a massive thank you to all the people who have helped me in this forum. You have been extremely helpful than even the UKVI Helpdesk.

I have applied for my ILR this morning and received my confirmation email today around lunchtime. Absolutely thrilled.

I just have some follow up questions regarding extending my wife's PBS dependent visa:

details:
I have been granted ILR due to having 5 years under the Tier 2 General - Migrant category.

My wife is also a tier 2 dependent visa which is expiring next month. Following Seagul's advice i plan to extend her visa in the same category which is the Tier 2.

I only have one question really. Do i need to wait for my BRP card to arrive before i file for her application? i have filled out everything and am just about to pay the IHS fee. I just wanted to make sure It is all safe for me to apply for her extension and i'm just worried that i may be jumping the gun, so to speak.

any advice is highly appreciated.

thank you all for the lovely work that you do!
