HSMP Extention

Post by raj » Sun Apr 10, 2005 12:41 pm

Dear All,

I received my HSMP approval in Oct 2004 and got the FLR approval on Dec 2004. Could you please tell me when my one year on HSMP permit comes to an end. Would it be in OCT 2005 or Dec 2005?

When should I apply for extention i.e. 2 months before Oct 2005 or 2 months before Dec 2005?

its been around 6 months and I have not yet secured a full time employement in UK just working 20 hours a week and earning around 500 pounds a month to survive, would I be able to get my HSMP extended on this earning.

Kindly respond as soon as possible.

Eh - check the expiry date on the visa/ residence permit...I expect it to state Date X, Dec 2005.

2 months prior to the date above - verify nearer to the time if the HO still accepting applications prior to 2 months...they may have improved their service standards and reverted back to 1 month pre-visa expiry for an extension application.

What is this survival job? What activities are you undertaking to seek employment/ self employment in your HSMP designated profession.

Hi Kaya,

this survival job is not what I had mentioned in HSMP application. I am MBA having 7 years IT experience. Have done my MBA from one of the UK university which is one of the top 50 universities in the world as per the list published by home office.

I am making every effort to get my MBA job, have attended more than 15 interviews in last 5 months with world's leading companies in UK. However so far nothing materialize as yet.

Hence working part time to earn atleast the survival money. I am working as customer relationship assistant and it is a permanent position however I only work 2 days a week though I do have option to work there full time and earn as much as 16K a year. but thats not what my goal is I want to get my MBA job hence I do utilise rest of the days to apply for the jobs and attend interviews.

Kindly tell me in worse case would I be able to get the extention based on my 500 pounds a month salary.

regds

Hello Malhotra Sahab,

I dont understand why you are so reluctant to take that 16K fulltime position and get extension and then go for the MBA job you are taking about. See to my opinion 16K job is not so bad initially. But on the other hand you get three years time, which is quite long enough to search for your designated profession.

Secondly, had you taken this part time survival job as full time, would there be any problems in getting extension, which I suppose you never mentioned in your HSMP application.

you can chat to me on yahoo my id is udoma67

the conditions of HSMP extension say that you have to show your economic activity, it does not really go into how much you need to be earning, as long as you are not claiming public funds to survive. also you can actually extended your hsmp even if you are not in employment, but can show that you are making efforts to secure employment and are not claiming public funds. So i dont see why you cant extend your HSMP even on a 'survival job' also you do have plenty of letters showing that you have attended interviews etc.
