Free visa extension for frontline NHS workers

Post by HABS » Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:50 pm

Dear Sir,

This query is regarding the recent announcement of home secretary on 31-3-2020, thats the visa of frontline NHS workers will be automatically extended for 1 year if its due to expire before 1st Oct 2020. The link is as below:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/nhs- ... oronavirus

I am a doctor working in NHS. My family (wife and 3 children) are on TIER 2 dependent visa. I received ILR in Dec 2019 while my family is still on TIER 2 visa, which will expire in Aug 2020 and they need PBS dependent visa extension. My question is :

1- Does the above guidance apply for PBS dependent visa applicants as well who are family of NHS workers?

2- Do i need to contact anyone for the visa extension? If yes, who should i contact and when ?

Kind Regards

HABS

My understanding is that it applies to PBS migrants who are NHS workers and their dependents when the NHS worker gets the freer extension.

As you hold ilr and not tier 2, it likely doesn't apply to your dependents and they have to apply in the normal way.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

How can i know for sure? Do you think the home office will issue further guidance on this matter in coming days? My family’s visa is expiring in Aug 2020, so i will wait for atleast 2 more months before it gets clearer. Whats the best advice for me please? Should i contact the home office ?

Many thanks again.
