Visa expiry in June 2020

Post by Concerned81 » Wed Apr 15, 2020 2:54 pm

Hi all I hope you can give me some guidance here.

I am an Irish citizen and my partner is here on a Non EU visa Stamp 2 which is due to expire in June. We were planning to get married in Denmark in May and seek the spouse visa. Now with the Covid19 pandemic and associated shutdown across the board this is looking very unlikely to be possible. She is not able to get another Stamp 2 visa.

I was wondering what options are available to us, particularly in the time frames above. Is it likely that her Visa may be extended or will they limit that only to those who's visa expires between 20/03/2020 to 20/05/2020?

This is becoming very stressful as it is now looking like she may have to leave in June when her visa expires.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The current policy covers those whose permission expires before 20 May. Nobody knows what will happen within a month’s time so it is impossible for anyone to give you any suggestion.

Denmark has gradually reopened public facilities though. You might want to take your chance in May or early June.

The other thing you can do is to write a letter to INIS / SOIN unit and explain your situation. If you have any evidence of preparing to marry in May in Denmark, you may want to send them over as well.
It might or might not help her case, but at least you have something in writing in case her status expires and has to apply for an entry visa to get into Ireland.
