Free visa extensions will be automatically granted to more crucial overseas health and care workers, the Home Secretary has announced today.

That isn't a fresh news rather was announced few weeks before. Before someone avail this opportunity must think twice that this route may reset their ILR clock 8)

What you mean by reset the clock? Wife’s spouse visa expires this coming september. We both work for the same care home and our wage was affected
due to self isolation. We are thinking grabbing this opportunity as both of us wont reach £18600 thresh hold. Also employer refused to furlough my wife as both of us can’t work as no one will look after our 2 year old son if both of us gets the virus, they changed her contract from full time to bank hours instead of furloughing her....

We have no other choice 😢

Switching into this route blindly without reading the full guidance (which isn't yet available) it might be a biggest mistake as it might cost you even higher than your current saving.
