Bank statements for Maintenence fund

Post by Tier1_UK » Fri Aug 15, 2008 12:33 pm

Hi All,

Can you please advise whether bank statements posted by HSBC UK or ICICI UK would be enough for Maintenence fund requiurement if these are showing all the details as per Tier1 giudance.

As the statements posted by bank for Online Saving a/cs are not signed and stamped by the bank, would it be considered as original by the Home Office provided it is showing all the details as Tier1 giudance.

Please advise.

Statements posted by bank are always original. What do you mean by 'As the statements posted by bank for Online Saving a/cs are not signed and stamped by the bank'?

What is Online Saving a/cs?

No banks sends sealed or stamped monthly statements, never heard.

Accounts that are opened and managed online. Usually paper statements are not issued by the bank for an online account. Example: HSBC UK Online Saver Account

Hello Sushdmehta,

Thanks for your update.

I have been able to get physical statements from HSBC UK for my Online Saver account showing all the details required as per Tier 1 guidance. The bank would post it to me shortly.

But do I also need to provide Home office any evidence for instant cash requirement to confirm the liquidity for the funds held in my a/c.

This was discussed in May, 08 in this forum by some of the users and it has created a confusion in mind now. Can you please advise on it.

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for your update.

I mean to say exactly the same what you have advised before that bank statements posted by bank are not stamped and signed by the bank authorities.

But as I am showing these bank statements for maintenance fund requirement, Tier 1 guidance for maintenance fund says that all the evidences must be original, on the official letter-headed paper or stationery of the organisation and bearing the official stamp of that organisation. It must have been issued by an authorised official of that
organisation.

So would Home Office consider it as original evidence without being stamped and signed by HSBC ?

Please advise.

Any of the follwoing is acceptable:
a) original bank statements, or
b) statements on letter-headed paper, or
c) statements on bank's compuer stationary duly signed and stamped by bank, or
c) if statements are printouts of online accounts, then get the bank to sign and stamp the printouts and issue you a letter to confirm authenticity of account / statement(s).

Hope this clarifies all doubts!
