Extension of FLR - which application form

Post by Peedee2001 » Sat May 30, 2020 3:03 pm

Dear Sir/Madame,

My parents will need to extend their FLR for the first time (after the initial 2.5 years) and we are not sure on which form/category to select in the online application. Thanks in advance for looking at this.

Background - Both my husband and me, and our 3 children are all British citizens. My parents had overstayed their visitors visas living with us for more than 15 years, they had been looking after my children during this time. They were granted 'leave to remain outside of the immigration rules' on Article 8 grounds and family life with me and my children, this was granted just over 2 years ago for an initial 2.5 years on the 10 year route.

When renewing with the online application forms, I would have thought we should use the form FLR (FP), as it would be under the point 'leave outside the rules on the basis of family or private life'. But when later on moving to selecting the category, it would not be 'parent' because that is for parent of children under 18s, it also would not be correct to choose the 'private life' category, when choosing 'other family member' it then say 'you cannot apply using this service, you must apply using other forms'.

Hence I think we should use the form FLR(HRO), and by selecting the category 'leave outside the immigration rules'.

Questions:
1. Would you think this is right?
2. Also, would you know if the documentation/proof requirements be as stringent as the initial application?

Many thanks for your help!

Mei
