Applying Tier 2 without COS

Post by Shatabdir » Wed Jun 03, 2020 12:15 pm

Hi All,

My Tier2 visa is expiring on 13th of June and I still haven’t received COS due to current situation. I have been advised by Covid -19 immigration helpline that I can apply without COS reference number.

Could you please help me to understand what should I do in this situation as I’m slightly nervous applying without COS.

First, I am a little confused because you previously said your leave expires on 31 May:

Either way, it sounds like you need to speak to the helpline again, because either you have misunderstood or they are giving very dodgy advice.

I imagine they were suggesting that you buy some time by claiming the interim free extension to 31 July, not that you apply for Tier 2 without a COS. There is no provision for doing that. On the contrary, the guidance on applications during the pandemic says that if you are applying for leave to remain in a long-term category (eg Tier 2)

You’ll need to meet the requirements of the route you are applying for and pay the UK application fee.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus ... -residents

That guidance also explains how to apply for the free extension to 31 July 2020.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
