If the damage is minor and you aren't applying job or aren't planning to travel outside of UK then better to not replace it for now.dixieleeds6 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 9:20 pmHi guys,
So I have come home from work to find out that my Wife's BRP has been cut in half. Why? One of our family members children thought it would be a great idea to start cutting her cards in her handbag. Honestly, you couldn't write it.. I am furious.
The chip isn't damaged & currently I am holding the card together via tape. But i don't think this would be adequate.
Where does this leave me now? I assume it's going to come at a price. I hope I don't have to go down the route of biometric fingerprints for her again surely?
Has anyone got any advise on this.
Thank you.
It's painful. There is no "lost / destroyed card" with the Home Office. A full application is needed to get it back.dixieleeds6 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 9:20 pmHi guys,

Would you happen to know the cost of this? We were planning on having her second name changed to mine at some point. Do you think it's worth doing it now since this has happened.Zerubbabel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 10:04 pmIt's painful. There is no "lost / destroyed card" with the Home Office. Yes but you first need to change your name on passport first.dixieleeds6 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 10:19 pmWe were planning on having her second name changed to mine at some point. Do you think it's worth doing it now since this has happened.
Do you have a copy of it? Given you do, all documents are scanned and uploaded on to the UKVCAS portal. As seagul already pointed out, if you are not travelling before applying for another visa, you do not have to do anything. You will receive a new BRP automatically after your new visa is approved.dixieleeds6 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 9:20 pmHi guys,

Don't know how clean the end product of the glueing will be. Though not heard about BRP but for other documents that can be used as form of ID and or records e.g. international passports, academic documents or certificate there should be no sign of repair or similar as this can be considered as tampering. People have being denied using driving licence as ID, denied from flights or grant of entering into another country due to what the immigration consider as tampering whereas the disfigurement of passport was due to normal wear and tear due to the passport holder being a frequent traveler.
These kind of fixes show very well when the card is checked under UV. Probably not a big issue in the UK, but if it happens abroad, they may think it was tampered with and refused boarding or cause issues.
