I have written to the HO and they told me that some application take more than 6 months. Not very helpful really. So hold on tight and keep waiting if you have nothing better to do.

I got a letter stating that "while we expect a majority of application to be resolved within 6 months, we've been unable to complete your application and will be in touch once we reach a decision"

It'll be great to have an idea as to the cause of the hold up or what further information is required.
