Soon British Citizen, Immigration for family

Post by Testingtime » Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:57 am

Dear Forum Members,

I have a few questions, please could you help.

I am soon going to be a British Citizen. My Wife arrived in the UK in March2018 on the first entry into the UK and her visa will expire in December 2020.

1. What application form she has to use for extending her visa. (Most likely she will get her visa for just over couple of years again- is that right ?!)

2. She will complete 3 years of living with me in March 2021. Will she be qualified to apply for her Citizenship after March2021 despite extending her visa in above point 1 ? OR does she has to stay on extention visa for the full duration and then apply for ILR and then for Citizenship.

Thank you.

Please help.

Have a great day.

She has to apply for a spouse visa extension on form FLR m and meet the English A2 and financial requirements.

It will be a 2.5 year extension.

She needs 5 years residence, counted from the date she entered the UK, before she can apply for ILR, which is mandatory before she can apply for citizenship.
