Running short of time

Post by paresh1 » Sun Apr 17, 2005 11:10 pm

Friends,
I am caught in a big dilemma. Currently I am working on work permit and had applied for HSMP in August '04. The bad news is: due to change in company policies I will be relieved from my current job in second week of May. But the good news is: recently I had given a job interview and in all probability will get a firm job offer by end of April '04. I seek advice on following:

1. How much period will it take for HSMP approval and subsequent FLR(IED) approval after faxing the firm job offer letter? Because after submitting the passport I will not be able to travel anywhere, putting me in hopeless condition.

2.Is it possible to get In-country HSMP approval and then requesting HO to change the status to out-of-country applicant for getting EC/FLR approval?

3. Is it possible and wise to change the status to out-of-country applicant for both HSMP and EC and then fax the offer letter?

Timescales for HSMP approvals after recieving job offers can vary between 1-3 weeks. It difficult to predict. Amongst other factors, how straigh forward is your case.

Once you receive your HSMP approval, you will then need to file for FLR. These days FLR is taking about a week.
2.Is it possible to get In-country HSMP approval and then requesting HO to change the status to out-of-country applicant for getting EC/FLR approval?
No. Incountry approvals can not be used for ECs
3. Is it possible and wise to change the status to out-of-country applicant for both HSMP and EC and then fax the offer letter?
Even if you could do that at this stage, you would reset your ILR clock back to zero.

My advise
- Read through old posts and use the search facilities extensivly. There have been others who have had similair issues.
- Look for postings by 'drewchad'. I recall he applied for HSMP and FLR quite close to the expiry of his visa and was successful in doing so.
