question about visitor visa application, with overstay in the past.

Post by natta124 » Wed Sep 02, 2020 3:47 am

Around early 2008 I overstay UK student visa since the visa expired before the course ended but did not apply for extension. (overstay period around 6 months). But I left on my own as soon as the course ended. It was detected by a border officer at Heathrow airport, he wrote NEV+number code on the passport.

Now if I wish to apply visitor visa to UK, will there be any problem with getting visa. Also am I required to disclose this incident, since the application form only asks for history in the past 10 years?

Thank you very much for any answers.

As a general rule, it’s probably good to disclose everything that has ever happened.

However, if the application form only ask for history during the last 10 years, then disclosing an overstay in 2008 may confuse the caseworker into thinking it may be a typo, or misread, for something that happened in 2018? Therefore, if you do disclose it, then make it absolutely clear that it was over 10 years ago.
