Discretionary Leave to FLR M Switch

Post by anaskamal1992 » Wed Sep 09, 2020 4:06 pm

Hello everyone,

I would be grateful if one of you clarify a few things for me;

I currently hold discretionary leave which was granted to me due to my long residency in the UK and lost of ties to my country of origin.
I came here as a child (13yo) with my family. We overstayed our visa and applied for asylum. This asylum application was refused but years later we were granted discretionary leave.

I am now married to a British Citizen and meet all the requirements of FLR M (Accommodation, Finance and English). Will I qualify for this even though I have overstayed in the past? Or shall i just simply extend my discretionary leave.

Some advise would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
