English Eligibility for Tier1

Post by SANDIPRAWAT » Thu Sep 04, 2008 12:43 pm

Hi All,

Iam planning to apply for Tier1(General). My qualification is there in SA tool so i get the required points for qualification but for the same qualification i didn't get any score in english eligibile section although I have done my BE from an UGC recognised University in english medium.

1) Shall I must need to qualify IELTS (as i think university certficate stating ''medium was english'' is no more eligible for tier1 )
2) NARIC has nothing to do with English eligibility ....right ?

Please advise & very thanks for it !!

HI,

Well its hard to believe that your qualification is there on the SA tool, but it did not give you any points for English language.

As we know that scoring 10 points for English Ability is a must, i would advise you to take the IELTS test, it hardly costs anything compared to the Visa FEE. Not worth the risk applying without an IELTS score. I say so because if the tool does not recognise the standard of English of your Univ as acceptable (some C1 or E1 level they have), its best you give this exam.

Let me know in case you have any further question. All The Best

Amit

Also I bought cambridge ielts 6 or 7 book with audio cd. I can't remember which one it was. But it was worth every penny to be honest. It gives you a great idea of the test. The whole thing about IELTS, you are against time. You have to do it quick. It shouldn't scare you though. If you buy a book and study the test concept there and time yourself too, it shouldnt be a problem. You should get 6.5 in average I got 8...
