IHS issues for Ancesty Visa

Post by Ky5 » Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:04 pm

(absolute newbie here, apologies if I mess anything up)

I submitted an application for an Ancestry visa on the 24th of August (from within the UK, thank you coronavirus), however when applying I used the reference number of a health surcharge payment I made for a previous, failed application that hadn't been refunded yet. I didn't realise at the time, but the payment linked was only half of what I needed to pay for an ancestry visa application.

I received an email on the 17th of September from the W&S Contingency Casework home office saying:
We are currently assessing your UK Ancestry application. Before a decision can be made on your application we require you to make the relevant Immigration Health Surcharge fee.

Please make this payment as soon as possible.
However no other details were given. I've emailed back a number of times asking for details about how and where I should make the payment, but haven't recieved any response. It's a matter of urgency that I get this visa sorted, as I'm currently unable to work due to this visa nonsense, and my partner and I have used the last of our savings in order to try and keep me in the UK.

Really, in order to pay the full IHS amount in one go, I'd need a refund of the previous one, as I don't have the money to pay the full amount currently. I also brought up the possibility of just paying the other half of the surcharge in the emails I sent, but I'm not certain if that's an option, certainly not without getting a response about this first.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice, I'd really appreciate it. My partner and I are at a loss here, and unless I can get this visa and start work again within a month, we're going to be in dire straits.

You may have to source for the funds and pay. The wheels of government doth grind slowly.

Is there a link for you to pay in the mail?

New application = new IH fee to be paid and a new IHS number.

Char (CR001 not Casa)

Even if I could pay the IHS in total (which I can't currently without first getting a refund, I don't have the funds at the moment after spending them all on trying to apply for the visa in the first place) I haven't gotten any word of what I should do with any new IHS number I get, especially as the person that emailed me seems so reluctant to reply.

Thank you for the link though. I promise my frustration is solely directed to the fact that this whole application debacle is like banging my head against a brick wall.

Try that email for asking refund:

IHSrefunds@homeoffice.gov.uk
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
