Hello,
We are applying for my husband's Tier 2 PBS Dependent visa extension at the end of 2020.
Context:
He was first granted Tier 2 PBS Dependent visa in June 2016, valid until Nov 2017 for 1.5 years.
We then applied for a 3-year extension which was granted until Jan 2021.
This makes his total time on PBS Dependent visa 4.5 years.
We now need to apply for another extension for 6 months to meet the 5-year criteria to apply for ILR.
Applying for another extension will require us to pay 3 years of IHS Surcharge (£400 *3 = £1200).
Is there any way to apply for a PBS dependent extension for 6 months only?
If not, is there a way to get the excess IHS refunded when we apply for ILR?
Thanks in advance
A Kalra

Unlikely.

You will not get a refund if:
your visa application is successful but you do not come to the UK
you leave the UK before your visa ends, for example to make a new application
you’re told to leave the UK before your visa expires
you’re applying for indefinite leave to remain or changing to another visa where you do not need to pay the IHS

Thanks @CR007. This was my suspicion. So unfortunate with the timing of the first visa.

Hi
We will be applying for my husband's PBS extension in December 2019.
He will have been a PBS dependent for 4.5 years and needs 6 months visa to complete the ILR requirement. We understand that this is not possible and we will need to apply for a full 3 year extension which is not great but oh well.
My question is around the application fees if someone can help please.
My entry route was Tier 2 General Shortage Occupation.
I acquired ILR in 2017 and British Citizenship in 2018.
I am now self-employed and NO LONGER in a shortage occupation.
Will the application fees be £464 (Up to 3 years - shortage occupation) or £704 (up to 3 years - non-shortage occupation)?
And what documents will we need to provide please?
All help greatly appreciated.
Best wishes

Hi
Can someone please help me what the fees for a Tier 2 Dependent visa will be where the main Application now has British Citizenship and is No Longer in a Shortage Occupation? Will we pay £464 or £710?
The main applicant is now self-employed and setting up own business and so income has reduced. We are able to show maintenance funds. Will the reduction in income impact the visa?
Thanks

The fees are determined by your last CoS you had, whcih you need to put in the form. Have you tried to complete the form yet to see???
Your current employment or type of employment is irrelevant.

Hi
My husband's PBS Dependent expires in Jan 2021.
The IHS is set to increase to £624 in Oct 2020.
To avoid paying the extra IHS, can we apply for his extension earlier?
Thanks for your help

Topics Merged.
Yes, you can apply at anytime. It will be a 3 year extension, regardless of when he applies. This all assumes that you got ILR visa tier 2 route and not 10 years long residence route.

Thank you CR001.
I just want to double check this as when I googled this, I found a solicitors website (link below) saying we are permitted to apply up to 60 days before current visa expiry. I really just want to make sure I can apply anytime as it is a big chunk of money

The link, now removed, refers to main tier 2 applications and not dependents. Your husband can apply at any time.
p.s. please do not post any weblinks that are not official UKVI weblinks.

Hi
I am in a similar situation to the original poster. Gained entry as Tier 2 General. Extending visa for husband as Tier 2 PBS dependent.
In my application the question being asked is whether the main applicant has health and care visa where as the original poster's application asked if his dependent has health and care visa.
Moderators - please could you explain if there is anything of concern here? Should it ask the main applicant or the dependent if they have health and care visa? I am just concerned there is something wrong with my application because the question being asked is different to what the original poster has been asked in his applciaiton.
Thank you
