I did not receive my approval letter

Post by santiagopoli_ » Mon Oct 12, 2020 5:57 pm

Hi there,

I few days ago I was finally granted with my Tier 2 Visa. After months of waiting because of the pandemic, I received my passport back with a 90-Day Vignette. The problem is that I did not receive my approval letter (it should have come in the same envelope). At first I thought that was normal and wasn't that much of a deal, but now some people are telling me that I need the approval letter to be able to enter the country.

I have contacted UKVI and they told me that they will have an answer within 15 working days, but I need to be in the UK by 25th October.

So my question is: Do I really need my approval letter to be able to cross borders? Do immigration officials really ask for it or they only check for my vignette?

For me is totally unacceptable that because of a problem by either UKVI or VFS I have to (potentially) lose my job, but no one is giving me an answer.

Thanks!

No. You only need your visa vignette.

Stop listening to "some people".

With "some people" I meant: "I called UKVI and they told me that I need the letter to be able to enter the country" (but It made no sense to me)

Could you confirm that I shouldn't be freaking out by this? I mean, I need the letter to know where to pick up my BRP from, but I think I have time for that.

Hmm, I guess if I had put my postal address wrong, I wouldn't have received my passport.

BTW, thanks for your answers.

My employer filled the application on my behalf, so I should check with them.

Just to know: Are you talking from personal experience when you say that immigration officials don't ask for the letter? Pardon my "mistrust", but the fact that UKVI told me I need it freaked my out (obviously, I talked with someone working at the UKVI call-center, not an immigration official).

I have never been asked for the letter. Your visa vignette is what is required.

Thanks! I didn't knew the post office information was in the Application Form. I have checked and now I have the address.

Is there anything relevant in the Letter besides the Post Office information?
