Tier 2 visa extension Query

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone could help,
So I’m on a tier 2 visa start from example : jan 2019 expires on jan 2022 so that’s 3 years, next step when I apply to extend my tier 2 visa in jan 2022 will this be for another 3 years as the max limit on tier 2 is 6 years ?? Or will it just be 2 years and 14 days ?

It depends on the length of the CoS your sponsor assigns.

so to confirm if my extension COS is for 3 years,
So I am eligible to extend my visa for 3 years so that’s a total and maximum limit of 6 years on tier 2 ?

Don’t understand online they say maximum of 5 years and 14 days please could you just end this confusion for me

Yes, you can extend again for 3 more years.
The max 5 years is when you apply first time and go for 5 year visa, instead of 3 + 3 year option.
