Would the new rules affect getting HSMP extension?

Would the new rules affect getting HSMP extension?

Hello!!

There are news about the new rules related to immigration to be put into force.
Refer http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7605455.stm and also I saw in NDTV that UK would be cutting several (actually LOTS!!! ) jobs in the IT sector.

Would all this affect a person applying for HSMP extension?
Does anyone have any information on this?

This relates to Tier 2 and not Tier 1.

If employers will not be able to sponsor WP (Tier 2) for IT resources from outside EU, it might be (hopefully) a good thing for IT professionals resident in UK on Tier 1 - just a thought!
